Almost there

There's this undeniable silence in the air which dictates that within the next few days, many people will either be starting their leave or are very close to getting there.

Take for example my colleague just behind me.  She goes on leave within the next 2 days...and although there might be some things to do - the mind has long gone and parked itself on the glistening shores of the holiday destination.

The colleague right next to her, who under normal circumstances is quite the diligent employee, is downright throwing his toys out the cot today.  Ranging from anything such as the aircon which now uncomfortably blows directly on him, to my bright blue exercise ball (which has now oddly found a new home in a cupboard), to the system testing project being a pain.  All of which normally wouldn’t be even the slightest problem.

Now honestly speaking, being any other time of the year, this reaction of colleagues toward the working environment and general attitude toward the actual work itself, could have left me feeling a bit dissatisfied and irritated.

But being December, with a pleasant breeze flowing through my work window, and after a relaxed light buffet Woolies lunch with said female colleague and some Christmas shopping later…I’m feeling quite in the holiday spirit myself.

Hmmm…makes the work to be completed before going on leave that much more bearable.

Happy days J

Sunday morning....

You know when you sitting at home on a sunday morning - with an A4 size list of things to do.  Well - that's me right now with only two of those items ticked off so far....so this is what it looks like.  In no particular order at the moment.

  • Sort out clothing OR shoe cupboards (only one can be done at a time - and if that one should be the clothing cupboard, it will definately take more than one day.  Hence leaving me no choice but to break that area down into even smaller bits like, summer tops, winter tops, pyjamas, hanging closet etc.)  You get the picture - this is no small task.
  • Do washing
  • Sort out post - because my postal address is not my physical address and I end up with chunks of post that I've sorted our electronically, but not physically.  Note to self: Go paperless in the new year and request all post via email.
  • Get flowers - freshness in my home makes me happy
  • See for bedlamps and extra length curtains and hooks - I'm constantly upgrading my interior and summer sun through my entire apartment makes the latter an essential.  Only problem is - most shops do not stock stylish, taped and lined extra length curtains...which brings me to my next point
  • Sew lost buttons back on cushions.  And in addition to this - find out how difficult it would be to actually make my own extra length curtains.
  • Wrap Christmas gifts
  • And finally and actually most importantly, work on assignment.  Because you see kids, I've almost completed a 6 month course on leadership.  And somehow the final assignment due date has found itself to be first thing in the new year.
So here I am - with a to-do list as they say in afrikaans "Wat skrik vir niks!" directly translated to english as "That scares for nothing!".  Luckily, the non-existant summer weather outside is making it slightly easier for me to get to my assignment....so let me get to it.  The rest of the list will have to be dispersed into the week.

Till next time....
Oh - the two things done btw is the washing and the wrapping of some of the christmas gifts...the rest still needs to be bought/made/created is some way or another.

Ciao for now!
